Showcase2016
Spring Showcase
Every June, Studio A presents several performances that highlight the accomplishments of all our students and give the dancers multiple performing opportunities. These productions, known as the Spring Showcase, are truly the highlight of our year. All Studio A students are invited and encouraged to participate in Showcase. Each show is a complementary blend of various ages, levels, and genres of dance to create an entertaining and impressive production. Age-appropriate routines are choreographed and rehearsed during the spring semester and each dance is conservatively costumed. The showcase is held in the professional setting of the Diablo Valley College Performing Arts Centre. Tickets are available for purchase starting in mid-May.

Company
The Studio A Company is designed for the student who desires to study dance at a more serious and accelerated level. These artists are committed to training year-round and showcase their efforts at a variety of community events as well as competitions. Company is genre specific. Company dancers are selected on an audition basis, with students auditioning in June or August for placement in the Jazz and/or Tap Company. The competitive season runs from February through May with Nationals every other year. Company graduates have received college scholarships and have gone on to attend prestigious universities including the Boston Conservatory, Cal Arts, and Loyola Marymount.

Community Outreach
WCAWFest
The focus of Studio A is education. An important facet of the education of our company is community outreach. As educators, the instructors emphasize the value of sharing the dancers’ talents with our surrounding community. As such, our company dancers participate in a variety of performances that both entertain and serve others. Annually the Studio A Dancers donate their time and talent to Davies Symphony Hall’s “Deck the Halls,” a Christmas extravaganza that funds inner city music programs for school children. Additional community performances have included performances to benefit Lucille Packard’s Children’s Hospital and the California Symphony. The Studio A Dancers have also performed for the Concord Senior Center, The Red Hat Society, Christ the King Parish, Kidfest, and the City of Pleasant Hill.
