Alisa Guardiola has over 20 years of dance experience, and has trained extensively on both coasts of the United States. Originally from Austin, TX, Alisa currently holds a BFA in Dance Performance from Chapman University, where she graduated with honors, and was the recipient of multiple Outstanding Choreographer Awards, Performance Awards, and Outstanding Dancer of the Year. As a performer, Alisa has had the opportunity to perform works by choreographers Jennifer Backhaus, Jiri Kylian, Merce Cunningham, Alonzo King, Mark Haim, and Dale A. Merrill. Alisa’s has 17 years of tap experience under the direction of master teachers, Acia Gray, Kim Willett, and Jason Janas. She is the recipient of Texas Association Teachers of Dancing (TATD) Tap Scholarship and has studied at Tapestry Dance Company’s summer intensives. Alisa has also received scholarships and attended summer programs for Hubbard Street Dance Chicago and Ate9 Dance Company. In addition, Alisa is a member of National Dance Education Organization (NDEO) and is currently studying the Gaga dance language under the direction of Ohad Naharin (Batsheva Dance Company). Over the course of her career, Alisa has had the privilege of performing with The Industry Opera (Los Angeles, CA), Ate9 Dance Company (Los Angeles, CA), Backhausdance (Orange County, CA), Szalt Dance Company (Los Angeles, CA), LA DANSA DANSA (Los Angeles, CA), and La Mezcla (San Francisco, CA). Alisa was also the director and choreographer of her own Orange County based company, A Company. She has most recently returned from attending his Gaga workshops in Tel Aviv, Israel, while also having studied his language in New York and Los Angeles. Alisa has taught at the recreational, competitive, and pre-professional levels, and is extremely passionate about her students’ success in the studio and committed to helping them meet their personal goals. Currently, Alisa is performing at numerous events across the Bay Area. She is thrilled to be a part of Studio A’s dance family and is excited to share her love of dance and choreography with others.
